
In their first game under Lombardi on September 27, 1959, the Packers beat the Chicago Bears,
9–6, in Green Bay. After winning their first three, the Packers lost
the next five before finishing strong by winning the rest. The 7–5 record represented the Packers' first winning season since 1947. Rookie head coach Lombardi was named Coach of the Year.
